The Cold Room

Young adult, historical fantasy.

Sixteen-year-old Tat is a servant in the aristocratic manor Hite House where the original room is always cold—so cold that if a person is unwise enough not to leave quickly, that person is in danger of freezing solid. The room is also the means by which the Hites, over the centuries, have caused their enemies to disappear. One night, Tat hears voices coming from the room and discovers that the people who have disappeared come back to life for one hour each night. Her desire to free them gains importance when she realizes that the Hites plan to wed their daughter to the king and then dispose of him in the cold room. What the Hites don’t know, is that the cold room is attracting an army of dark creatures that threaten to destroy anything that gets in its way. Somehow Tat must stop both the Hites and the dark army.
